5 Healthy dish ideas to bring to a party!

Ok, I admit it. When asked to bring something to a dinner party, I almost always bring wine, and get a little testy if I don’t get to drink it. Now I don’t really drink, so what do I bring? Yummy Healthy Finger Foods!

I have a few rules I make myself follow when bringing something. Mostly because it gets the conversation going about health. AND once you are on a health journey, we become ambassadors for a healthy lifestyle.

  1. it doesn’t need reheating
  2. ideally finger foods
  3. it is healthy AND very tasty
  4. follows the trendiest dietary restrictions, (or what ever diet experiment I’m currently trying out. 🙂

Now back on topic… Healthy Dinner Guest Dishes… Top 5quiche mini

  1. Quiches or Frittatas. I’m not sure but I think Frittatas are like Quiches with out a crust.
    1. Make in a greased cupcake pan, for single serve easy grab and nosh.
    2. You can put in what ever Veggie, meat, and or cheese combo you like
      1. My Favorites:
        1. Asparagus & Goat Cheese
        2. Broccoli, Cheddar, & Bacon
        3. Bell Peppers & Tomatoes

  2. Olives, Hummus, Sun-dried Tomatoes, Crackers This is my favorite for a last minute “Oh Sh*^” grab.
    1. Hit the Olive Bar at the supermarket and go crazy, little bit of this, little bit of that. Grab a tub of Hummus and some Crackers or a Baguette and BOOM! Yummy creative appetizer Here.
    2. Make sure you grab pitted olives!!

  3. Shrimp or Crab Meat Cocktails  This is another easy grab and go, although a little bit pricier.
    1. Hit the fish counter and the counter lady will show you right what you need.
    2. Don’t forget lemons, cocktail sauce, and ice. Mustard goes well with Crab. roasted-brussels
  4. Roasted Brussel Sprouts
    1. Yes these are wonderful cold.
    2. Cut in half, drizzle with olive oil or bacon fat, and roast at 350 degrees for 30 minutes or until a little browned.
    3. You can season with homemade bacon bits, lemon zest and soy sauce, OR my favorite sea salt and a drizzle of sesame oil.  proteinsnackballs
  5. Peanut Butter Balls
    1. If you do want to make something sweet these are fantastic!
    2. Look for any recipe for “Protein Peanut butter Energy Balls” I choose one that doesn’t have protein powder in it.
      1. 1 Cup Old Fashioned Oats – pulse in food processor
      2. add 3 Tbs Peanut Butter – pulse until blended
      3. 1 tsp vanilla extract + 1 Tbs honey – blende
      4. Shape Balls, store at room temp on wax paper.
    3. I like to add coconut flakes, chia seeds, or flax too! Experiment with different nut butters and ingredients!
