PROVEN JUICE RECIPES
These recipes are from the Dr. Oz and Joe Cross from Fat Sick and nearly Dead 3 day weekend juice cleanse. Using these recipes ensures a balance nutrient profile. While Joe Cross went on an extreme 28 days cleanse, with drastic lifestyle changes he totally turned his life around, lost 100 pounds, cured his autoimmune disease, and got off of all of his medications in 5 months! This was a very extreme move that he went on and is only for the robust, not for the weak.
That being said, a 3 day weekend cleanse in the summer is a great way to flush the kidneys and start yourself on a cleaner path towards health and wellness. The kidneys are a key filtration system in the body, and need to be cleansed before you attempt to detox any other part of the body. If you kidney’s are filled with plaque, or not functioning properly, and you try and liver or colon cleanse, the toxins release will not be properly removed from the body.
DO YOU NEED A JUICER FOR A JUICE CLEANSE?
While having a juicer makes things easier, I prefer a more high powered blender or ninja that retains all of the fiber and good stuff that gets kicked out with the pulp of most juicers. This gives you a higher powered cleanse full of more nutrients. A juice cleanse from a low quality juicer often becomes a sugar overload that leaves you worse off then when you started. Some of these ingredients need to be juiced in a juicer like beets, and sweet potatoes. So maybe mixing the two together. Greens are best chopped up then put in a blender with water or juice from the juicer. Food processors are awesome too. Work with what you have, and remember to have fun!
GOALS, CLEAN THE KIDNEY’S AND GIVE THE PANCREAS A BREAK.
Your pancreas works really hard day in and day out. Juice or blended vegetables are easier on the pancreas. The more broken down things are by the time they hit the stomach, the less enzymes your pancreas has to make and secrete. Chewing also gives your pancreas a break. So be sure to chew your dinner thoroughly.
THE RULES, BECAUSE EVERY GAME HAS RULES.
If you eat a general american diet, or a diet high in processed foods you will need to clean up your diet prior to starting any detox program. Dr. Oz suggests a few days of a clean vegan diet before you start the juice cleanse. This will ease any side effects of intense detoxing to be lessened, and ensure that your cleanse is vibrant opposed to sick on a couch.
THE 3 DAY CLEANSE DETAILS.
THE JUICES: Drink at room temperature, OR over ice if you are excessively hot. Add Green tea to your morning wake up if you are having trouble with lack of caffeine or head aches.
- Morning Wake Up: Hot Water with Lemon and Ginger.
- Breakfast: Carrot Apple Ginger Juice
- – add unsweetened cranberry juice to taste
- Morning Snack: Mean Green Juice
- Lunch: Gazpacho Juice
- Afternoon Snack: Citrus Green Juice
- – add unsweetened cranberry juice to taste
- Pre Dinner: Sunset Blend Juice
SNACKS THROUGHOUT THE DAY:
Radishes, Watermelon, Green Apples, Cucumbers, Bell Peppers, dried cranberries.
Big Heaping Healthy Salad http://ohsheglows.com/categories/recipes-2/food-sides/sides-salads/, piled high with minced garlic, onion, kale, spinach, carrots, radishes, watermelon, apples, belle peppers, cucumbers, arugala, berries, cabbage, cherries, dried crane berries, grapes, dandelion greens, parsley, Olive Oil, squeeze of lemon or lime, small pinch of salt and pepper to dress.
Vegan Stir Fry, if you are cold. Focus on the ingredients above, avoiding any tofu, beans, grains, rice, soy sauces, prepared bottled sauces. Use high quality oil or mostly water in the pan. Season with a squeeze of orange, sesame oil, a little salt and pepper.
DESSERT: Herbal Teas, like marshmallow, chamomile, mint,
ABSOLUTE NO NO’S:
NO animal products, meat, chicken, fish, dairy, eggs, honey, etc.
No intoxicants, coffee, alcohol, drugs (green ten if you get head aches.)
No Sweeteners, added sugars, and artificial sugars, soda
